Introducing the 110-Year History of TOYO DRY

Founded in 1912 (Taisho 1), we have a history of over 100 years based in the Kuramae and Asakusa areas.

    Founded in Kuramae in 1912 (Taisho 1)

    Toyo Dry Cleaning in its early days

    Dry cleaning, which is now commonplace, was a new technology at that time, and machines for dry cleaning were very expensive. We started operations in Kuramae as a cleaning shop loved by the local community.

  • 1923

    The Great Kanto Earthquake and Relocation to Asakusa

    Reconstruction at that time

    We have a past where we experienced disasters such as building collapses due to the earthquake, but taking the opportunity of the disaster, we relocated to the Moto-Asakusa area where we restarted the cleaning business.

  • 1944

    After the End of World War II

    After the great earthquake, even after being hit again by the Tokyo air raids, we rebuilt buildings and machinery and restarted the cleaning business during this period.

    After the war, we visited customers' homes and collected items as a style called "Goyokiki" (soliciting orders), and we had many regular customers for home delivery cleaning since that time.

    At that time in Tokyo, streetcars called "Toden" were running, and home delivery cleaning was also handled by three-wheeled vehicles and bicycles, reflecting a community-based style unique to that time, different from today.

  • 1997

    Specialized Cleaning Service for Apartments

    In addition to home delivery cleaning, we handled various types of clothing, from cleaning items of local residents to priestly garments in temples, and our unchanging "quality-first" style has been rooted since then.

    From the late Showa era to the Heisei era, many apartments with concierge services were built around Asakusa and Ginza, and we received requests for home delivery cleaning services from corporations operating concierge services for residents of these apartments, expanding our services significantly from this time.
  • 2002

    Expansion of High-End Brand Cleaning Services

    There are various styles in each cleaning shop, but our company has been quality-oriented from before, and we have had many opportunities to accept requests for stain removal that other shops couldn't handle, further enhancing our skills and achievements.

    In such circumstances, the number of cases where we received cleaning requests for high-end brand items by designation from tailors of custom-made suits and boutique staff increased, and we have expanded services specializing in high-end brand items up to the present.
